PhD – Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Michael Steele, PhD is a Clinical Child Psychologist who specializes in working with children and adolescents under 18 years of age. After growing up in Anchorage, Alaska Dr. Steele moved to Utah where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Utah State University. It was also at this time that he fell in love with Southern Utah and made it his goal to settle in that area at some point in his career.
After finishing a Master’s Degree Program at San Diego State University in Clinical Psychology, and another Master’s Degree and his PhD in Clinical Child Psychology at The University of Kansas, he went on the further specialize in Pediatric Psychology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. After finishing his training, Dr. Steele entered Academia where he worked at Washington State University, Auburn University, and The University of Utah within the School of Medicine.
Most recently, Dr. Steele chose to leave his position as the Director of the Child and Family Psychology Program at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand to return to Utah where he will be on Faculty at Southern Utah University. Despite loving his work as an Academic, Dr. Steele made decision early in his career to remain clinically active in an effort to allow his Academic knowledge to inform his clinical practice and vice-versa.
