Immigration Psychological Evaluations in Utah
An immigration psychological evaluation can give your case the documented mental health evidence it needs. At Therapy Utah, our trauma-informed clinicians provide professional evaluations for immigration cases — including asylum, hardship waivers, VAWA, and U-visas — tailored to meet legal standards, with compassion and clinical rigor.

Immigration evaluations that meet legal standards
If you’ve experienced trauma, persecution, or hardship, the right evaluation can help your attorney tell your story to the court in a way that’s clear, credible, and clinically grounded.
We provide professional mental health evaluations for immigration cases, and we work closely with immigration attorneys to deliver clear, court-ready reports. Each evaluation is built on clinical interviews, a review of relevant records, and detailed diagnostic findings — all designed to document the psychological impact of what you’ve been through and to support your case. You’re welcome to share the report with your immigration lawyer.
Our work is grounded in trauma-informed care and cultural sensitivity. We provide a safe, non-judgmental space to share your experiences, and we take the high stakes of these cases seriously. Types of immigration evaluations we provide
We tailor each assessment to the legal standard your case calls for. Your attorney can help you understand which one fits your situation.
Asylum
For people who fear returning to their home country, an evaluation can document the psychological effects of trauma, persecution, or fear to support your asylum application.
Hardship Waiver
When a case turns on extreme hardship to a qualifying relative, we assess and document the emotional and psychological impact involved.
VAWA
For survivors of abuse seeking protection under the Violence Against Women Act, we provide a careful, compassionate evaluation of the psychological effects of what you’ve experienced.
U-Visa
For victims of qualifying crimes, an evaluation can help document the mental health impact and support the U-visa petition prepared by your attorney.
What the evaluation looks at
Every report is built from a thorough, individualized assessment — not a checklist.
- One or more clinical interviews to understand your history and experiences
- A review of relevant records you and your attorney provide
- Detailed diagnostic findings using recognized clinical standards
- The psychological effects of trauma, persecution, or hardship
- A clear, written report you can share with your immigration lawyer
- Cultural sensitivity throughout the process
Our evaluators are trained in trauma-informed care and have experience with immigration-related mental health assessments. Several members of our team are trained as immigration evaluators, and Spanish-speaking clinicians are available. You can read more about the people who do this work on our team page.

Book your intakeImmigration evaluation FAQ
A few of the questions we hear most often from clients and attorneys.
Do I need a referral from an attorney?
No. You’re welcome to schedule an evaluation on your own. That said, many people are referred by their immigration attorney, and we’re glad to coordinate with your lawyer so the report addresses the specifics of your case.
What happens with the report?
You’ll receive a written report that documents our clinical interviews, record review, and diagnostic findings. It’s yours to share with your immigration lawyer, who can use it to support your case.
Will this guarantee the outcome of my immigration case?
No one can promise a particular outcome. An evaluation provides professional mental health documentation tailored to meet legal standards — it’s one piece of evidence your attorney can use to strengthen your case.
Can the evaluation be expedited?
Yes. When a faster turnaround is needed, we offer rush delivery for an additional $500. Reach out early so we can talk through your timeline and what’s possible for your case.
Are sessions available in Spanish?
Yes. We have Spanish-speaking clinicians on our team, so you can share your experiences in the language you’re most comfortable with.
If you’re in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, you’re not alone — call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) anytime, or call 911 in an emergency.
